The next meeting of the Tidy Towns network will take place on Tuesday 12th March. It is hoped that at least 2 members of our Tidy Towns committee will attend.
Scotstown Tidy Towns has registered with An Taisce for the annual Spring Clean. By registering we will receive a Clean Up Kit for use in the area which includes: Protective tabards for adults and children to keep clothes clean, colour coded plastic bags for recyclable and non-recyclable waste, and gloves to keep hands safe and clean. Monaghan County Council also assists the effort and may be able to provide extra materials and skip collection. We encourage schools, clubs, individuals and families to get involved and register themselves on the website, so that they too can get involved at whatever time suits them. Register online as soon as possible at: http://www.nationalspringclean.org/ Work on the low wall past the bridge has now finished, and doesn't it look well! Thanks to John McPhillips for his painstaking work and patience, a job well done. We look forward to planting around this area later in the season. Attention has now turned to an area outside St Dympna's Terrace, on the Monaghan side of the village, where John is building another stone wall. Work also continues with the 3 roomed extension at Urbleshanny N.S. However, we look forward to the school moving into their permanent classrooms, and a green flag in the playground as a reward for all their efforts and cooperation with the Tidy Towns committee down the years. |
